For more than 25 years CRDB Bank has been involved in contributing to the surrounding community through the provision of its financial services in parallel with returning a portion of its profits to the community. Throughout that period, CRDB Bank has grown to believe in the power of cooperation to bring about positive results. The CRDB Bank Marathon is a charity race launched by CRDB Bank back in 2020 to unite individuals, groups, and institutions apart from participating in the race and building their healths but also addressing social issues going on within our community.  For the first time in Tanzania in the city of Dar es Salaam, the CRDB Bank Marathon was able to capture the attention of many through the slogan "The Speed That Spreads a Smile".The first season of the CRDB Bank Marathon aimed to raise funds to support the surgery of 100 children with heart problems at the Jakaya Kikwete Heart Institute (JKCI). More than 4,000 runners from both home and abroad took part in the race for the first time where TSH. 200 Million was raised and made aided the first-ever CRDB Bank Marathon to achieve its goal.

The CRDB Bank Marathon consists of a 65km race for cyclists,  42km, 21km, 10Km, and 5km for runners where they are all tested on their ability with the latest technology that allows them to determine the time they spent running. Currently, now, the CRDB Bank Marathon is not unfamiliar to athletes as it is considered to be one of the best Marathon ever held in Tanzania and East Africa despite its recent launch. Apart from not only being recognized as a sporting and social event but also the CRDB Bank Marathon is an entertaining event that brings together families, friends, and business partners together after a race where people can enjoy together with a variety of entertainment including music, roast beef, and children's games. The CRDB Bank Marathon was certainly a good manifestation that was created in Tanzania and brought a positive outlook towards athletes and the entire Tanzanian community by providing sports, social and economic opportunities. The year 2021 has begun with a big smile for the fans and participants of the CRDB Bank Marathon where it has been certified to meet international standards by the International Athletics Association (AIMS) in collaboration with the World Athletics Federation. It is now time that the CRDB Bank Marathon is brought to the world and spreads smiles throughout our community.
